Did you know?
Scaffolds shall be erected, moved, dismantled, or altered only under the supervision and directions of a competent person qualified in scaffold erection, moving, dismantling or alteration. Such activities shall be performed only by experienced and trained employees selected for such work by the competent person. OSHA 29 CFR 1926.451(f)(7)
Did you also know?
Your competent person must have had specific training in and be knowledgeable about the structural integrity of scaffolds. The competent person must also be able to evaluate the effects of occurrences such as a dropped load, or a truck backing into a support led that could damage a scaffold. In addition, the competent person must be knowledgeable about the requirements of this standard. A competent person must have training or knowledge in these areas in order to identify and correct hazards encountered in scaffold work.

Competent Person Training
Scaffolds are to be erected, moved, dismantled, or altered only by experienced and trained employees who have been selected for that work. All courses are designed in compliance with OSHA regulations and are taught by experienced CER personnel.
Hazard Awareness Training
OSHA regulations state that "the employer shall have each employee who performs work while on a scaffold trained by a person qualified in the subject matter to recognize the hazards associated with the type of scaffold being used and to understand the procedures to control or minimize those hazards." This training must, at a minimum, cover the common hazards associated with the type of scaffold that the employee will be working from. All courses are designed in compliance with OSHA regulations and are taught by experienced CER personnel.
§ 1926.454 Training requirements.
(a) The employer shall have each employee who performs work while on a scaffold trained by a person qualified in the subject matter to recognize the hazards associated with the type of scaffold being used and to understand the procedures to control or minimize those hazards. The training shall include the following areas, as applicable.
